FAQ

What is therapy?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. When individuals are in therapy, it is a process wherein we begin by building trust and talking about what brings you to treatment. From there (usually after a few sessions), we begin doing the richer work of exploring the parts of your life that feel unsatisfying, draining, or difficult. Once we begin to identify patterns, we can start to figure out when and why they developed. With this understanding, we can make change.

How long will I be in therapy?
Again, there is no one right answer here. Some people come to therapy for a few months and others stay for years. It is a mutual decision with the final verdict belonging to the client.

How often do I come to therapy?
Therapy is most effective with regular sessions which ideally occur on a weekly basis. Sessions are held on the same day and at the same time each week. Of course, there is room to make reasonable scheduling changes if need be.

How long is a therapy session?
The first session, also known as the intake, is one hour. After the intake, individual sessions are 45 minutes and couples sessions are 55 minutes.

Are sessions remote or in person?
Sessions are conducted either in person at my office in Downtown Brooklyn or remotely via HIPAA-compliant video software.

How much should I expect to pay?
Fee is determined during the initial phone consultation, which is free of charge.

Do you work with individuals under the age of 18?
Not at this time.

Do you write letters of support for clients seeking gender affirming procedures?
Yes. Refer to the LGBTQ+ page to learn more.

Do you partner with a psychiatrist?
Not currently. If you are in need of a referral to a psychiatrist, I will provide you with one or more referrals that best suit your needs once we begin our work.
