LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ individuals can have an especially tough time finding a therapist. Concerns about whether a potential therapist will “get” them, respect their relationships, understand the interplay between sexual/gender identities and other parts of their lives, etc., are of the utmost importance when selecting the right therapist.

LGBTQ+ issues hold great importance to Rebecca both personally and professionally. Not every LGBTQ+ person comes to therapy needing to focus on their identity(ies) in treatment, and yet these identities are inextricably linked to our familial, community, and professional lives. Rebecca carries over a decade of experience working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, queer, questioning, and non-monogamous adults. LGBTQ+ clients may need help with self-expression, creating and sustaining boundaries, building healthy relationships, coming out, exploring identities, emotional self-protection, etc. These matters often hold unique significance for marginalized gender and sexual communities.

Clients can be provided letters of support for gender-affirming surgeries when required by insurance companies and/or surgeons. It is best that the therapy has been taking place for some time before this or any other type of letter is provided; however, if you are in need of a letter of support and in a time-sensitive situation, please reach out to Rebecca and specify the request in your message.
